Lab Report Format

When doing an engineering lab report there are many things to consider. The most important part of the report is content. The content of the report is the data that you research and collect. If the content is bad, your report will be bad. Another important factor of your report is the formatting. The formatting of almost all engineering labs are very similar. Below is a formatting example. Formatting similar to this should be used unless specified otherwise by your professor.


Engineering Paper Format

Writing an engineering paper is similar to that of a lab, but more straightforward. An engineering paper should have a title page and a citations page. The rest of the paper will be in typical paragraph formatting. The paper should start with an introduction, then move onto the body. Following the body of the paper there should be a conclusion. The paper should contain in text citations when using information taken directly from another source. A short example is shown below.
